Child Care Assistance

 

The purpose of this program is to help a family transition smoothly from the immediate, short-term child care needed as the parent starts work or work activities to the stable, long-term child care necessary for the family to leave and remain off aid.

 

Children's Home Society of California has three Child Care Assistance Programs that provide subsidized child care services to eligible families, including Alternative Payment, CalWORKs, and Child Protective Services.

State Insurance Programs

 

     Low-cost health coverage for pregnant women.

 

Preventive health program for low-income children and youth.

 

Low cost insurance for children and teens. It provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who do not have insurance and do not qualify for free Medi-Cal. 

 

This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for low-income individuals and families.

 

Allows Qualified Providers to grant immediate, temporary Medi-Cal coverage for ambulatory prenatal care and prescription drugs for conditions related to pregnancy to low-income, pregnant patients, pending their formal Medi-Cal application.

 

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families

 

(Welfare)

 

This is a cash aid program for low income families to meet their basic needs. It also provides education, employment, and training programs to help families get jobs and move towards self-sufficiency. Child care, transportation, work expenses and counseling are available for families in work activities.
